Virginia Mae Dobbins, 84, of Missoula Montana passed away peacefully on Saturday December 15 of 2018 in Missoula.
She was born on October 14, 1934 in Alvwood Minnesota to John and Muriel Whitinger. As a young girl she lived on a farm with her three brothers in Minnesota. In 1952 with her family they left Minnesota looking for work and settled in Missoula. Virginia finished her senior year of high school at Missoula County Schools, which is now Hellgate High. In 1954 she met the love of her life, James Dobbins, while he was visiting his sister next door.
Virginia and James married on December 3, 1955 in Missoula Montana. They made their home on 5th street and raised their family in that home for 54 years.
Virginia enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening in her backyard. She loved to camp and fish with James and her family. Most of all she loved and cherished being with James, their children and grandkids.
Survivors include; three daughters Janice (Jim) Howell of Bellevue Washington, Laurie (Al) French, Debra (Casper) Schmidt, and son Calvin Dobbins all of Missoula Montana. Brother Arvid (Pam) Grier of Arizona, Sister Beverly (Dave) Hiatt of Idaho and her Sister-in- law Gloria Whitinger of Minnesota. Nine grandchildren Jessica and (Greg) Howell Hall. Elizabeth and (Joel) Howell, Neil, Nathan and (Valorie), Brittany, Kelsey, Shelby, and Mckenna French, and Shaelyn Schmidt. Two great grandchildren Cora and Margaret Hall and numerous nieces and nephews. Family friend, Nancy Aitken-Nobles was her “adopted by heart” daughter.
The family would like to thank the caring employees of BeeHive homes and Partners in Home Care—Hospice Services for their support of our mother.
Virginia was preceded in death by her husband James Dobbins, her father John Whitinger, her mother Muriel Grier, her step father Archie Grier, and her three brothers Vernon, Bruce, and Warren Whitinger.
Visitation will be on Friday December 28, 2018 from 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM with her service following at 11:00 AM at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.

God saw her getting tired and so He put His arms around her and whispered "Come to Me." With tearful eyes we watched her go, and saw her pass away. Although we loved her dearly, we could not make her stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hardworking hands at rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best!

Words, however kind, can't mend your heartache: but those who care and share your loss wish you comfort and peace. May you find strength in the love of family and in the warm embrace of friends.
All our love, Paul and Kathy

Grandma we all miss you so much already, I will always cherish the many sleepovers and trips we took to Dels Place. We had some great times together over the last few years, I always loved to come for a visit because that meant laughter was to follow. I wish there were more people like you in the world. I will love and miss you more each day.
