Betty Jean Gore

SPOKANE VALLEY, WA ~ Betty Jean Gore (Vicki) died of old age and was received by her savior on July 21, 2026 at the age of 97. Vicki resided in Spokane Valley, WA at the time of death, but lived most of her life in Missoula, MT, and then several years in Arvada, CO. Vicki was born to George Ellis Davis and Ethel Langrill Davis in Bluestem, WA on August 27, 1928.

Vicki was the youngest of 10 siblings born on the farms owned and/or worked on by George and Ethel near Davenport, WA. Vicky could recall playing near the large draft horses that pulled the farm equipment and the many farm animals. Their life was very difficult, and was tragically made more difficult by the death of her mother Ethel in 1929. Vicki never knew her mother, but was raised by her father, older sisters Doris and Mary Lou, and her Aunt Edith Langrill Miller. When George moved to Spokane and remarried, she was also raised by step-mothers, Florence and then Agnes.

While a young woman, Betty took the nickname Vicki because she didn’t like to be teased about having the same name as the movie star Betty Davis. Most of her immediate family knew her as Betty, but most of her friends knew her as Vicki as she matured and then married. Vicki met Warren B Gore, then an airman stationed at Fairchild Air Force Base, in late 1952 while washing dishes in Stateline Gardens, ID. Warren knew a good girl when he saw one and they married soon after in 1953. Two children were born to this marriage, Steven B Gore and Jacki D Gore.

Vicki worked as a bank clerk and other clerical jobs—she was good with money. Vicki then worked with Warren to help in his appliance repair business. Vicki and Warren moved their appliance business and young family to Missoula, MT in 1964. Vicki also served and worked in her family church.

Vicki excelled in homemaking, cooking, and being a mom and grandmother. And like Will Rogers, she never met a person she didn’t like, so she made many friends who were drawn to her friendly and accepting personality. However, Vicki lost her husband Warren in 1994 and son Steven in 2006.

Parents: George and Ethel Davis; Husband: Warren Gore; Sisters: Doris Bennett, Alice Grizzell, Mary Lou Brown, Dorothy Gilroy, and Yvonne Kerr; Brothers: Lloyd, Kenneth, John, and Vern (Dave); Son: Steven Gore; and Grandson: Jamie Allen.

Surviving family:

Daughter: Jacki (Claude) Allen; Daughter-in-law: Debbie Gore; Grandchildren: Christopher (Anna) Allen, Katherine Allen, Zachary Allen, Justin B Gore; Great grandchildren: Lennox Fabiani, and Lucian Allen; and numerous nephews/nieces and extended family.

Her memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 29, 2026 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home in Missoula. Private inurnment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
