Carol Jean Harmon

MISSOULA ~ On September 22, 2025, Carol Jean Harmon, age 80, passed away peacefully at her home.

Born June 21, 1945, in Washington to John and Cecila Van Allen, Carol lived a full life enriched by family, friends, and simple joys.  She grew up in Missoula, attending Willard Grade School and Missoula County High School. In 1965, she married Jim Harmon in Bonners Ferry, Idaho, beginning her journey as a wife, mother, and grandmother.

Carol had a heart for nature and could often be found feeding the birds or tending her garden. She loved swimming, traveling with friends, and solving puzzles, always finding joy in both adventure and quiet moments.  Her warmth and kindness touched everyone around her.

She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Cecila, and her sister, Nancy. Carol’s memory lives on through her sons, Brian and John; her granddaughter, Kaity (Scott) Schutz; her great-grandchildren, Preston, Harper, and Colt; and her sister, Janet Schwartz.

Carol’s legacy of love, laughter, and gentle care will continue to live on in the hearts of those she cherished. At Carol’s request, no formal services will be held. Instead, her family will honor her life at a celebration of life gathering to be announced at a later date.
