MISSOULA ~ Delbert Alvin Krum, 88, of Missoula, passed away Monday, May 18, 2026 at BeeHive Homes of Missoula.
Delbert was born January 14, 1938 in Bridger, Montana to Andrew and Anna (Hergenrider) Krum. He was the 5th of 10 children. Delbert was only 2 pounds when he was born, so a dresser drawer was his first crib.
He started school in Bridger Basin, Wyoming. The family moved to Edgar, Montana, then Joliet, Montana and then to Fromberg, Montana. During the summer and fall he worked out in the sugar beet fields. In the fall, he worked in the grain fields shocking grain.
Delbert graduated from Fromberg High Scholl in 1956. After graduating, he worked on a farm owned by Merle and Melvin Hill. Late in 1956, the family moved outside of Butte, montana where he helped his father milk cows.
In 1959, he went to work driving logging trucks. In 1962, he moved to Missoula, Montana where he then went to work for a road construction company running the rock crusher, moving all over Montana.
Delbert was married to Helen Tobel and they divorced in 1982.
In 1983, he married Lisa Mossner. His marriage to Lisa was the joy of his life. They went camping and on many trips. He went to Germany with Lisa to meet her family and even though he did not speak German, he could communicate with the family.
Delbert was a feisty guy and loved his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife Lisa, step-sons Michael Walter and Udo Walter; parents Andrew and Anna Krum; three brothers, George Krum, Ray Krum, Fred Krum and one sister, Rosella Dauenhauer.
He is survived by Lisa’ son, Scott Walter; one grandson, David Walter; one granddaughter, Moira Minjaras; two brothers, Gerald Krum, Tim (Monika) Krum; three sisters, Elnora (Jim) Evans, Jetta Moon, Loretta (Bob) Chambers and many nephews, nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 20, 2026 at First Lutheran Church in Missoula.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity.
Arrangements are under the care of Sunset Memorial Funeral Home and Crematory in Missoula.
