Obituary for Glen Steven Munds

Glen Steven Munds was born on Sept. 2, 1944, in Orofino, Idaho, to Harry J. Munds and Rilla J. Summers. Glen grew up hunting and fishing in the Idaho and Montana wilderness and was a star fast-pitch softball pitcher and fullback at Pierce High School. He excelled in competitions of all sorts and lay claim to countless trophies in pool, darts, bowling, and much more. He also founded the Timberline Puddle Jumpers off road club in Pierce, Idaho, where he would lead expeditions into the wilderness in his modified fire-breathing V8 Willy’s Jeep.

On Sept. 16, 1962, he married his high school sweetheart Claudia Munds in Pierce, Idaho. Glen and Claudia’s marriage provided them with two daughters: Tareena, who is married to Mark Kaurin; and Stephanie, who is married to Aron Hill.

After separating with Claudia, Glen then married Sue Munds and raised her two daughters Patty and Mary as his own. For 30 years they enjoyed raising and racing horses and gathering with family.

Glen moved to Bonner in 1976 to work in the plywood mill where he worked as a supervisor. He remained there for 30 years until the mill closed. He had many friends there who call still call him BOSS. In 2001 Glen reunited with his high school sweetheart and first wife Claudia. They were remarried in Missoula in October of 2002. Until his passing Glen and Claudia enjoyed gardening, reading, family gatherings, trips to Lochsa and Hoodoo pass to pick huckleberries, and Montana Grizzly football.

Glen possessed a quick wit and a dry, pointed sense of humor that everyone enjoyed. He was an honest man that would consistently shoot straight with whomever he encountered. He was a man known for his unparalleled toughness, but he also had a gigantic warm and generous heart underneath that rough exterior which he would open to those around him. Above all Glen was a man that loved his family and valued the time that he had with them. He loved his wife Claudia and his daughters Tareena, Stephanie, Patty, and Mary. He cherished his grandchildren Mark (married to Chelle), Steven and Lea, Devante, Keira (married to Joe), Matthew, Denai, Charisse, Jazshe and Taavi, and he absolutely adored his great-grandchildren Tyson, Cadence, Mariah, Rebecca, Gavin, Aubrey and Trumaine.

A private family service will be held on Friday, June 23. Later that day, a celebration of life will be held at Munds Hill at 2 p.m. for those who would like to pay their respects. In lieu of flowers donate to Hospice of Missoula at 406-543-4408.
