MISSOULA ~ John Herman Borchert, 79 , of Missoula, Montana, passed away peacefully on April 19, 2026, with his family by his side from natural causes.
John was born in Carson, North Dakota, to Emil Borchert and Anna (Steinley) Borchert. He grew up surrounded by a large family and carried those close bonds throughout his life.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Willard and Chuck; his sisters, Adelane, Fern, and Mary Lou; and other loved ones who went before him.
John is survived by his loving wife, Carla; his sons, Johnny and wife Tiffany and Steven and wife LynDee; and his three grandsons, Andrew, Titus, and Boden, who were his pride and joy. He is also survived by his brother Bill and wife Marlene of Wyoming; his sister, Lois and husband Lester of Arizona and many extended family members, including his nephew Mike and wife Betty, who held a very special place in John’s heart.
John dedicated 34 years of his life working as a millwright in Bonner, where he was known for his strong work ethic and commitment.
John will be cremated, and his remains will be placed at Sunset Memorial Mausoleum Building for visitation. No formal services are planned at this time; a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Arrangements are under the care of Sunset Memorial Funeral Home and Crematory in Missoula.
