Life Story for Karin Scheuch

Karin Scheuch, 82, of Missoula, passed away at her home Thursday, June 2, 2016, of natural causes.

Karin was the youngest child of Andrew and Wauneta Lind. She was born Aug. 31, 1933, in Grand Island, Nebraska, and grew up in Seattle. She graduated from Roosevelt High School and received a B.A. in education from the University of Washington, where she was a member of the Delta Delta Delta Sorority. Karin taught third grade for several years before returning home to raise her family. She was a strong advocate of literacy and a devoted reader. She shared that passion with her young students, her children and her grandchildren.

Karin was an avid skier. She loved nature, wildlife and black Labrador retrievers. Karin had fond memories of summers spent on Bainbridge Island with her young family. She had a spirit of adventure and enjoyed trips to Alaska, China and the Middle East. After retiring in 1998, Karin continued her adventurous lifestyle and took to the open roads on a multi-year R.V. journey with her beloved canine companion, Andie. Together they traveled from the coasts of Northern California to the Pueblos of the Southwest, stopping often to enjoy visits with her family and close friends.

In 2005, Karin concluded her nomadic lifestyle and settled in Missoula. She became a member of the University Congregational Church, and was especially active in their weekly book group. If she wasn’t reading a good book, Karin could often be found watching a classic Western movie or a Seattle Mariners baseball game.

Karin was preceded in death by her beloved son Dale, her sister Francine, whom she adored, and her brothers Duane and Clayton, whom she respected and were a steady source of companionship. Karin is survived by her loving children, Tracy (Tad) Kreager, Brad (Lisa) Scheuch and Gary (Jenny) Scheuch; her grandchildren, Emma, Kate and Charlie Scheuch, and Kennedy Almanza. Karin also leaves behind her beloved nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 13, at the University Congregational Church of Missoula. Memorial contributions can be made to the University Congregational Church of Missoula.
