MISSOULA ~ Leah Christine Hartley, of Missoula, Montana, passed away on September 3rd. Born in California, Leah was the beloved daughter of Deborah Hartley and the late William McCormick, and a devoted sister to her younger brother.
Leah spent her early years in Washington, where she studied early childhood development and was recognized for her outstanding work with children. Her time working with young people fostered a deep love of community and a lifelong passion for giving back.
Leah will be remembered for her compassion, creativity, and generosity. She was deeply committed to helping others, especially homeless communities and families in need. Leah spent countless hours cooking meals, organizing donations, and extending warmth and kindness to those around her.
Leah’s love for nature, adventure, and her family led her to explore the wilderness of Montana, where she eventually found a home in the community of Missoula. There, she found peace tending to her plants, caring for her two bearded dragons—her cherished companions—and creating all types of art.
Leah is survived by her loving mother, Deborah Hartley, and her brother, Matteus Hartley, who will carry her memory with them always.
A memorial service to celebrate Leah’s life will be held at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home on Friday, November 14th at 1:00 p.m. All who knew and loved Leah are welcome to attend and honor her beautiful spirit.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Missoula’s homeless shelter in Leah’s honor — a cause she held close to her heart.
Arrangements are under the care of Sunset Memorial Funeral Home and Crematory in Missoula.
