Robert "Bob Brookshire

MISSOULA ~ Robert “Bob” Brookshire was born in Salida, Colorado on August 21, 1935, to Logan and Dawn Brookshire. He passed away on May 17, 2026. Bob graduated from Salida, Colorado High School in 1953. He attended college at Colorado State University and Western State University on Basketball Scholarships. He graduated with a BA in Physical Education. Following graduation, he became the Head Basketball Coach and Director of Climax, Colorado schools. He held this position until Climax was consolidated with Leadville, Colorado. He then became the Assistant Basketball Coach, Assistant Football Coach and Head Track Coach. In 1962 he accepted the Head Basketball Coaching and Director of Physical Education position at Jamestown, North Dakota High School. In 1963 he retired from teaching and coaching and took a full-time job in insurance sales. He moved to Missoula, Montana as a District Manager in 1967. He held this position until he retired in 2000. He married Bobette Reeder on January 28, 1971, in Idaho Falls, Idaho.

Bob was preceded in death by his wife Bobette, parents, brother, Dr. Jack Brookshire (Joan) of Leadville, Colorado, brother-in-law, Norm Reeder, In-laws, Boyd and Marian Reeder, Son, Steven Brookshire, Granddaughter, Amy Christenson and Grandson, Matthew Christenson.

He is survived by his daughter, Kathy (Ken) Christenson of Omaha, Nebraska, Son, Bob Brookshire of Hamiton, Montana, Grandson, Michael (April) Christenson of Portland, Oregan, and Granddaughter, Blaire (Spencer) Kottcamp of Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho, Great Granddaughter, Mara Christenson of Sydney, Iowa, Sister-in -law, Linda Reeder of Lolo, Montana, five nephews and one niece. Bob had too many neighbors and friends to name all- especially Tom Thompson, Gloria Lee and Stan and Carol Wekkin.

Cremation has taken place. A private service will be held for the immediate family.

Arrangements are under the care of Sunset Memorial Funeral Home and Crematory in Missoula.
