Russell E Simmons Jr., age 71, of Alberton, passed away on Saturday, May 1st, 2021, at his home.
Russell was born on July 3, 1949, in Kingston, PA, to Russell and Betty Partington Simmons. He spent his childhood in Kingston, and the family moved to Lake Carey when he was a teenager. He graduated from Tunkhannock High School, and then served in the United States Army. After completing his military service, he worked for the Pennsylvania Game Department, Proctor and Gamble, and did some carpentry and outfitting.
Russ was a member of Alberton Community Church, Masonic Mountain Lodge 110, Western Montana Scottish Rite, American Legion Post 124 in Frenchtown, and a lifetime member of the DAV. He was also involved in Point Man ministries at the Deer Lodge Prison until his health prevented him from doing so.
He enjoyed spending time in the outdoors hunting and fishing, but most of all loved spending time with his family, especially feeding the great-grandchildren ice cream and candy.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Amber; and a great-grandson, Kasen Daich; and a sister.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Sandra Denmon Simmons; a daughter and son-in-law, Heather and James Lausch of Charlo, Montana; a son and daughter-in-law., Russell and Kris Simmons of Sweetwater, Texas; grandchildren, Samantha( Keith) Brant, Russell of Alberton, Roxanne Simmons (Franco Grumi) of Clearfield, UT, and Jimmy Lausch, Miranda Lausch, and Angela (Allen) Lausch of Charlo; great-grandchildren, David, Aaron, Everly, Jordy, Emree, Ryker, Vincent Grumi, and Emberleigh; and a sister, Colleen Williams of Tunkhannock, PA.
A private service will be held for the family at Alberton Community Church. Arrangements were under the care of Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
