COLD SPRING, MINNESOTA ~ Thomas M. Roholt, Jr. of Cold Spring, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on October 21, 2026 in Albany, Minnesota after a year long struggle with cancer. Tom was born September 7, 1951 in Great Falls, Montana to Thomas and Loretta Roholt. He grew up in Billings in a loving family with a kind and gentle mother and a father who championed his love of nature and the great outdoors. He and his brother Jon were the leaders and terror of the neighborhood. “Dynamite” and “Firecracker” made for never a dull moment. Tom donated a kidney to his brother Jon in 1979. Tom graduated from Billings West High School in 1969. He attended the University of Montana and is a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity.
He was an expert conservationist and loved all things hunting and fishing. Maore than the sport of it all, he loved the wonder of nature.
Tommy was kind, hilariously funny, witty like no other, a storyteller extraordinaire, and stubborn for sure. He wrestled and played baseball in high school and excelled at sports. If it involved a ball, he was good. He got a hole in one while playing golf with his brother Ronald. He was a great cook, albeit a messy one. He was famous for saying “every good recipe starts with a stick of butter and an onion”. He was a good singer and writer. Early in his career, tom owned T.M. Roholt and Company Outfitters based out of Dubois, Wyoming. He specialized in guiding hunts for bighorn sheep. Later, he worked for ATS Trucking as a heavy haul fleet manager in St. Cloud, Minnesota for twenty-five years.
Tom was preceded in death by his wife Sharon Cobb Roholt; his mother, Loretta and father, Tom. He is survived by his daughter, Ashley (Joseph) Tuccini of Allen Park, Michigan; grandson, Gabriel Tuccini; sister, Donna (Martin) Ueland; brothers, Jon (Jenny) Roholt and Dr. Ronald (Denise) Roholt; several nieces, nephews and cousins, who loved him very much, and his Irish Setter, Ollie.
The family wishes to thank Tom’s good friends, Mike and Amy Renckens and Leon Traeger for their friendship and care during the last year. Thank you to the nurses and physicians of the Centra Care system that cared for him and Moments Hospice.
Family graveside and burial has taken place at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Missoula, Montana. A celebration of Tommy’s life will be held July 10, 2027 in Bigfork, Montana. All who knew and loved him are invited to attend.
God go with Tommy. We all love you and will miss you.
The family suggests memorial donations in Tom Roholt’s name to the Flathead Lake Biological Station, 32125 Bio Station Lane, Polson, Montana 59800 www.flbs.umt.edu or a charity of your choice.
