Wesley Cross

Wesley Dakota Cross, 20, of Missoula, earned his angel wings Monday, Feb. 22, 2016, surrounded by his family. He was born March 19, 1995 in Libby, the youngest son of Daniele Huff and Christian Cross. Wesley was a beautiful young soul, kind, generous, brave and courageous, a hero to many. Wesley spent his life in and out of hospitals battling a very rare lung disease that required him to have a double lung transplant at the age of 16. With many complications, he overcame every obstacle and flourished for four more wonderful years, he was a fighter until the very end.

Wesley touched many peoples’ lives with his sweet smile and spitfire attitude, always making others laugh no matter what he was going through. He loved playing video games or anything electronic and cuddling with his dogs and cats. Mostly he loved to rule the roost keeping everyone on their toes with his quick wit and sarcasm.

Wesley is survived by his mother Daniele Cross; stepfather David Casaray; his father Christian Cross; siblings, James Cross and Ashley Huff; maternal grandmother Leslie Chapel; grandfather Dan Huff; great-grandmother Verna Jo Chapel and many aunts, uncles, cousins and step siblings who loved him dearly, as well as many doctors and nurses who became family through his journey. Wesley is preceded in death by fraternal grandparents Jim Cross and Cynthia Buegg.

A viewing will be held at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home from 3 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 1. A celebration of Wesley’s life will be held at Missoula’s City Life Center on Saturday, March 5, from 3 to 7 p.m., in honor of Wesley’s favorite colors red or purple, please feel free to wear these colors to celebrate his colorful life.
