Obituary for Wilburn Cartwright "Will" Long

Wilburn “Will” Cartwright Long, 77 of Huson, Montana passed away peacefully on August 20, 2017. Will was born December 5, 1939 in Colbert Oklahoma. Will was surrounded by his 3 surviving children, Michael Long of Blair, NE, Kathryn Huff of Concrete, WA and Stephanie Bull of Huson, MT as well as his Grand Daughter, Kayla Rasmussen of Missoula, MT. Will is also survived by 5 Grand Children, 1 Great Grandson and a brother. Will married the love of his life on March 9th, 1963, who preceded him in his death. Will served his country with great pride in both the Army and the Navy. He also went on to serve his communities through being a Montana State Highway patrolman and a deputy with the county sheriff’s department. Will was instrumental in establishing the Sanders County Search and Rescue and was a leader in the dive teams. Will settled into a career as a director of Engineering in several hospitals throughout the state. He was a member of the American Society of Hospital Engineers where he received many awards for his accomplishments. Will took great pride in being a mason where he was a Shriner. Will is greatly missed as he was a wonderful story teller of his many adventures in life.
Will is going to be laid to rest on Friday, August 25 at Sunset Memorial Gardens at 3:30 pm. In lieu of flowers the family suggests a donation to St. Patrick Hospital or a charity of your choice. Condolences for Will’s family may be left at www.sunsetfuneralhomecemetery.com
